Awesome Dry Doc is a 2005 rose gray gelding.  He  stands 14.2 and weighs 1000 pounds.  His grand parents, Peppys Dry Award, Doc Grey Lady, and Cougarand, are money earners and point producers in cutting and reining.  He is broke and will stand in hobbles.  He learns easily.  Quick and smart.  He has a deep chest and is thick boned.  He has become an 'in your pocket' horse.  Moves very smooth and has an excellent nice canter.  He is extremely responsive to cues.  Cannot say enough good about this horse and have found nothing to fault him on.

He would make a cutter, reiner, rancher, roper or using cow horse.

We use the geldings to gather cattle and horses, work calves, check fence and the cowgirls ride just for fun.  There are long horns, jersey cows, calves, a llama, a goat, a blue healer and the usual Missouri wildlife around the ranch.  We believe it is beneficial to expose the horses to as much as possible.  We trail ride at Honey Creek and other conservation areas, and on crop ground, pastures and roads close to home.  Most of our riding geldings are are taken to a feedlot in Nebraska  when they are 3.  The training, exposure and work ethic they come home with has been very valuable in their maturation process to becoming finished horses.  We try to ride the geldings consistently.  We generally have 2 and 3+ year old horses available in various stages of being started with ground work and under saddle.

We worm our horses regularly and for geldings going to events or riding in public use areas, we give flu vaccine.  We feed our geldings grain when they are ridden and they do best on pasture, hay, and protein tubs when they are not working.  We do not keep our horses inside.

We attempt to make training enjoyable for the horses and to make every effort for the horses not to have bad experiences.  This does not reflect a lack of discipline, experience or being spoiled.  We avoid putting horses in high pressure situations before they are ready in mind and physical development. We try to make the right behavior easy and the wrong behavior difficult.

The younger colts and fillies on the pages of our site will grow up to be as good as any of our riding horses on this page.

It is very important to make the best match possible between horse and rider.  Although each of our horses have much in common, each horse has its own personality.  With every person being different, people gravitate to different traits in a horse.

Our goal is to make the best possible match between horse and rider.

These geldings have been bred and raised on our ranch and have not had a  bad experience in their lives.  Not something any of us can really know when a horse has been through a few owners.  Our horses are not spoiled or coddled.  They live outside with other horses, grouped by age.   We expect them to ride and respond well and we train them to do so.  They have good minds and we are proud to ride and represent them.
